Message And you CANNOT compare american ones with european ones!! American Alfa's don't cost much in europe 'cause NOBODY wants them. Alfa Romeo, like the 164 Q4 don't cost as much as 300ZX TT but has a VERY GOOD 6 speed gearbox, a VERY nice electronic controled ride contol, nicer seats who are both in many positions electric adjustable and heated and as an option: Recaro's with memory and on some types: in 2 part electric adjustable rear seat, better sound prove (close a door you will hear it!), great audio!, mirrors who are heated, electric adjustable and retractable, a steering wheel that can be adjusted in 2 directions, better (aircraft quality) switches, a nice viscose clutch for the 4-wheel power line, headlights who WILL give you light when it gets dark (unlike the Z),steel reinforcements in the doors, and I could make the list ten times this long if I would mention everything whats better (or more luxuous) than a Z. AND THE NEW ALFA 166 IS MUCH MORE LOADED!! It has even navigation, telephone, anti skid control, traction control and many more standard!! Oh jeah; the Alfa needs his first little maintenance job at 60K miles (apart from the oil changes in between). I've driven (and have) MANY (european) Alfa Romeo's but I can't complain about the quality. My dad drove his first Alfa 164 over 230K miles and the last 70K miles WITHOUT any maintenance (he didn't care much about cars as he did about his money) and still it drives!! Try this with your Z: it will NEVER drive again. And what I (and my cousin with his alfa 75 I.E.) always did (I know it's bad) was revving the car when it still was cold; I know for shure that a Z would not manage to do 160K miles like this without braking down. I have my Z for about a year (one break down since) and I only wish that my Z was even HALF as reliable than an Alfa Romeo is, even that would be an improvement.
Signed: An expirienced Alfa Romeo mechanic and owner (6 on the moment).
YEAH Z-owners :The truth can hurt! but you're asking for it.
